Floral & Fauna

Natalie’s personal floral work is intricate and thoughtful, demonstrating a deep admiration of the fusion of natural elements and design. Her unique approach is to create the unexpected, beyond flowers in a vase.

The vessel these creations are displayed in is key to the overall message they convey. Capability Graham uses a range of vessels: unique hand-thrown clay pottery; gathered elements such as its collection of ancient fossils; the mossy mushroom-laden forest floor; humble farm finds; sumptuous seaweed and the seashore; mudlarking treasures and weaving in fibres – only ever using what is required from these sacred natural environments.

As well as sourcing unique, vintage and curious items, Capability Graham champions pieces from other independent makers and creatives.

Personally, Natalie is absorbed in the quiet transformation of the process of creating, finding it all-consuming yet mindful as a meditative flow. Always listening to what she finds innately compelling and by paying close attention to inspiration from her surroundings.

Within our restaurant’s setting, the bespoke dried floral displays are curated alongside our collection of fossils, historical plaster works, antlers from our deer and curious meaningful objects we collect along the way.

Natalie is fascinated by the impact of flora and fauna in decorative arts, as they demonstrate and depict symbolic meanings for many cultures, throughout history, and in our own personal stories, memories and celebrations.

Her perspective is grounded in the belief that flora and fauna, alongside a connection to the natural world and the materials it provides us with, can have the power to encourage our creativity and celebrate our senses, resulting in a positive impact and an elevation of our wellbeing.

At times the vegetables, herbs and flowers have a duality and can be used both in a delicious dish and for their decorative properties.
